Seasonal Decor & Plants

  • The Grinch is back! Attending this super popular workshop is tradition for many of you! We're happy to be back "grinching" it up with you again this year. Using a sleek, modern square white container and fresh floral foam, participants will twist up a branch of "leyland cypress" so it bends like the last tree in a Who-ville home once the Grinch got his greedy hands on all of the goodies. Fresh evergreen boughs (boxwood, pine and cedar) will be added at the base, along with light fresh flowers and a final touch of an ornament on the tip of the main branch. Whimsical and fun for the holidays! Photo is of a Grinch project from a previous year; 2022 project will have a different, larger pot. To complete your online registration, choose any date (for "pick up"); we will know this is a registration for a workshop to be held in the future. Choose Deposit Only ($10.00) if you are a 2022 Customer Card Holder as your workshop fee for this session will be $45.00; the remainder will be payable when you arrive for the workshop.
  • A new workshop for 2022!  Winter Gnomes are super-popular and can be an outdoor decor piece for the entire winter. Using a metal frame, participants will create bundles of fresh evergreens that will attach to the frame, covering the body of the gnome.  Layers and layers of evergreens will create a full body (no thin gnomes in this workshop!).  A beard will be attached, using Silver Fir, and then his hat, nose and mittens (not shown in this photo, but will be included) will be affixed.  Give your gnome a name before you leave - we'll help you come up with something clever! NOTE:  Photo for illustration; your gnome will include mittens too.  This is an outdoor project and, since we are making them a bit early, may need to be set in a shady spot for a week or two, until it gets a bit cooler.

This is a new workshop!  We'll be working with a lot of grapevine this year and want to extend the design idea to an outdoor winter planter workshop. Participants will use a 12" basic black pot and choose to use either a 14" grapevine wreath or a 14" grapevine sphere as the focal element.  Around either layers of fresh and fragrant evergreens will be added (pine, cedars, boxwood, silver fir) along with magnolia leaves, pinecones and other accents. Note:  the photo for the wreath pot is an example from us from last year and is indicative of what you'll be making; the photo of the sphere is for illustration (size) purpose only - if you choose this project, yours will be so much nicer (although lights are not included with your sphere - you could add them later)! Both options will be offered in the same workshop, there are just slightly different techniques, using all the same materials.

This is a workshop where you learn the techniques to create a fresh, new style of outdoor Winter planter: tree-top style. Participants will use a simple black pot (12" diametre) and pop in a 2-3 foot real evergreen tree (cut, not rooted) as the focal point.  Then, layers of fresh evergreen boughs are added to the base of the planter to create a "skirt" that is lush and fragrant. Natural accents such as dogwood, pinecones and magnolia leaves are offered along with items from our "Accent Buffet" to create your own, unique masterpiece. Note:  this planter can be stand-alone or pop inside another, decorative pot (fits standard urns too).  In this workshop you will make ONE planter; if you require a second one, our staff can gather up the materials for you to make another at home.

We've added an opportunity to go back to basics and create an evergreen arrangement in either a 12" round, fibre planter (works as an urn insert or stand-alone pot), 24" fibre window box /rectangular planter or 12" fibre hanging basket. Using a selection of fresh evergreens, participants will fill the planter of their choice (to choose upon arrival or make notation in NOTES section) with layers and layers for optimum fullness.  Natural accents such as sedum, hydrangeas and pine cones will be offered, along with a visit to the "Accent Buffet" to choose 5 additional accents to make your arrangement truly unique and spectacular. *If you have a container you'd like to bring to this workshop that is similar in size to the fibre options listed above, you may do so.  Please bring it empty of soil and know we will be adding in foam and sand/soil to create a base for you to use.  There is no reduction in the fee if you choose to bring your own container.  If you require a liner for a metal frame container, an additional charge will be added.

This style of wreath can be a little bit country or a little bit elegant - it's your call!  Erin will help you design a lovely outdoor wreath using a simple, but pretty 14" grapevine base.  You will be guided on techniques to wire on and layer various evergreen boughs (boxwood, pine, cedars, silver fir) and accents such as magnolia leaves, pinecones, eucalyptus, mini birch pieces, pods and berries.  At the end, Erin will help you make a beautiful bow for your masterpiece.
  • Let's get our hands dirty together!  This is a planter workshop and some of the plants used will grow for months/years to come!  Using a trio of small, medium and large pots in trendy green, modern design, participants will choose 9-10 plants to distribute amongst the three planters.  Choices will include:  cyclamen, poinsettia, cypress and norfolk pine, ivy, blooming calandivia, rosemary, ferns and small houseplants.  Moss, sticks, pinecones and other accents will be added. Choose to keep all three planters or gift some to others.  This new, high value workshop is sure to be a winner! Photo is of pots only; photo of completed projects added soon. To complete your online registration, choose any date (for "pick up"); we will know this is a registration for a workshop to be held in the future. Choose Deposit Only ($10.00) if you are a 2022 Customer Card Holder as your workshop fee for this session will be $60.00; the remainder will be payable when you arrive for the workshop.
  • A new workshop for Holiday 2022!  Using a 16" lovely wooden and metal sleigh that can hold fresh floral foam, participants will "green up" the base with fresh mixed evergreens such as pine, boxwood, silver fir and western cedar.  A high-value waxed Amaryllis bulb will nestle on the greens; it will be a focal flower and will slowly grow and open up to glorious bloom as the month progresses.  We'll chat about ways you can control the bloom until just around the holidays (a few tricks up our sleeves!)  Light fresh flowers will complete the arrangement that will last throughout the month. Photo is of container only; full photo will be added once the evergreens arrive.
