FAQ about Workshops:
Q: Who may attend a workshop?
A: Everyone is welcome! We do ask that, unless it has been approved ahead of time, only one person per registration come to the workshop (i.e. friends coming together to make one project) as our space is limited. Do know our workshop space is accessible and we will make any additional accommodations required (i.e lower table, stool, assistance cutting etc). A tidy porta-potty washroom is provided and an additional accessible washroom is on site.
Q: How do I pay?
A: If you register online you will be asked to pay in full for your workshop. Those who have a 2023 Customer Card will choose the DEPOSIT only option as they receive a$5.00 per workshop discount and will pay the balance of their reduced fee upon arrival to the workshop where they will show their card for verification. You may also register in person (and make payment) or over the telephone (and offer your credit card information).
Q: Is there a “Wait List” for sold out sessions?
A: Yes, we will accept names of people to call in the event of cancellations. Don’t hold out too much hope, however, we don’t often call folks on the wait list, sorry. Do keep an eye on the website and check the Workshop list often; whenever we can, we add a new session of a popular project (it’s a matter of finding time slots and materials). We will contact anyone on a wait list for the same project first, before posting a new workshop live on the website.
Q: What if I can’t attend the day of the workshop?
A: We understand, life happens. If you are unable to attend please let us know as soon as possible as we often have a wait list for each workshop. If you can, you are welcome to transfer your participation to a friend; they can just come ahead “as you” to the workshop. If that is not possible, we will refund your fee in the form of a gift card.
We understand weather can be an issue for the Winter series, if the weather is dangerous, we will cancel a class and try to reschedule or will compensate your pre-paid fees. If the class is not cancelled but you are uncomfortable driving to your workshop, please let us know as soon as possible and we will arrange for you to pick up the sample arrangement, choose from general stock or receive a gift card in the amount you pre-paid to compensate. If there is another session of the same workshop, we can try to accommodate you there. Even if Mother Nature is mean – we aren’t!
Q: What’s the temperature like in the workshop space?
A: The temperature in our greenhouse changes often: on sunny days it’s warm, on cloudy days it’s cool and that can change by the minute. We suggest your wear layers. It’s never uncomfortable, just change-able. We also suggest an apron or old shirt as pine gum is sticky; please do not wear your favourite cashmere sweater!
Q: May I make more than one project in the workshop?
A: No, sorry. We’ve timed out the sessions for all to make one project; often we are rolling into another workshop right after and/or our hard working staff need to break for a rest and nourishment and can’t stay longer to help you make a second project. We will gladly help you gather the materials you need to complete a duplicate at home, or ask if you can pay for the sample the instructor makes at the beginning of the session – voila: a matched set!
Q: How early should I come for my workshop?
A: It’s recommended that you should arrive 10-15 minutes before the scheduled start time. This gives you enough time to check-in with our event host near the front entrance and hang up your coat. We begin right at the scheduled start time.
Q: Are your workshops fun?
A: You bet! Come and see for yourself!
